GRIMSLEY HS BAND CLASS REGISTRATION

On this page, you will find the information about which classes students should register for. As students are meeting with their counselors and selecting their classes, please use the information below to help them with their band registration. This information is for class registration.

RISING 9TH GRADE STUDENTS

All rising 9th grade students should register for "Band Accomplished Honors."

Band Classes Offered:
- Band Accomplished Honors (Concert Band & Percussion Ensemble) - No Audition Required
- Band Advanced Honors (Wind Ensemble) - Audition Required
- Jazz Band Advanced Honors - Audition Required

There is no audition to be in the high school band! Any student with previous band experience can take a band class at the high school. Rising 9th grade students are automatically placed in “Band Accomplished Honors.”

Auditions are required for the Advanced Ensembles (Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble). See the information below about auditions for the advanced ensembles. If students are selected into an advanced ensemble, Mr. Ray will update the student's schedule to reflect the correct class enrollment.

Auditions for Advanced Ensembles:

April 20-23, 2026 - Visit HS Band Auditions to sign up for an audition time and to find the audition requirements.
Auditions will be held in the Grimsley Band room.

Wind Ensemble Auditions:

Audition requirements are this year’s All County materials (2025-26).
All students auditioning for Wind Ensemble will play their current year’s audition material. Rising 9th graders will play the middle school scales and solo.
Auditions will include scales, solo, and sight-reading.

Jazz Ensemble Auditions:

Auditions will be from April 20-23, 2026
All students auditioning for Jazz Ensemble will play their current year’s audition material. Rising 9th graders will play the middle school All Region Jazz requirements.

CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL BAND STUDENT CLASS REGISTRATION

All current High School students should select the class they are currently during registration.

Example: If you are currently in "Band Accomplished Honors," you should select "Band Accomplished Honors" during the registration process.

Current Class Title:

Band Accomplished Honors - This is 2nd and 5th periods. Select Band Accomplished Honors during registration.
Band Advanced Honors - This is 4th period. Select Band Advanced Honors during registration.
Jazz Band Advanced Honors - This is 1st period. Select Jazz Band Advanced Honors during registration.
AP Music Theory - This class will be offered again during the 2027-28 school year.
