Marching Band Information

 

The marching band is open to all students. No audition is required for flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, baritone, or tuba to play in the marching band. An audition is required to join the drum line.  The marching band is required of all students, unless an exemption has been approved by Mr. Ray.  Exemptions are primarily for those that participate in fall sports.  Other exemptions will be considered but need to be provided to Mr. Ray prior to June 1, 2026.  

 

Full Band Camp: August 10-14, 2026 (Link for Grimsley Band Calendar): www.grimsleyband.com 

• Registration for the Grimsley Band will be from April 15-May 15, 2026. You will find the link on Mr. Ray’s page at www.grimsleyband.com beginning April 15, 2026.  All students planning to be in the Grimsley Band for next school year should register (This is not just a marching band registration.) - This helps with communication throughout the year.

 

Drumline Auditions:

• Monday, August 3, 2026 (8:30 am to 4:30 pm) – Grimsley Band Room

• Drumline Camp: August 3-7, 2026 (8:30 am-4:30 pm) – Grimsley Band Room

READ ALL THE INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE REGISTERING. 

Registration Link - Active March 15, 2026.  

Registration is for all members of the Grimsley Band program.  This includes all concert band classes, jazz ensemble members, drum line members and marching band members.  If you are enrolled in a band class for the 2026-27 school year, please register using the provided link.

 

Summer Band Camps:

Percussion Camp: August 3-7, 2026 (8:30 am-4:30 pm) 

Monday-Thursday: 8:30 am-4:30 pm

Friday: 8:30 am-12:00 pm

Auditions for the drum line will be on Monday, August 3rd beginning at 8:30 am.

Full Band Camp: August 10-14, 2026 (Please see times below) - This is for ALL students participating in marching band.

Monday-Wednesday: 8:30 am-4:30 pm

Thursday: 9-00 am-6:15 pm

Friday: 8:30 am-12:00 pm

There will be a question at the bottom that states you are aware of the summer band camp dates.  Please try to schedule all vacations and trips around these dates.  If you have a conflict, please contact Mr. Ray so that alternate arrangements can be made if needed.  

 

Summer Rehearsal: 

Monday, August 17th

Thursday, August 20th

Friday, August 21st - Football Game 

*These rehearsals are between band camp and the first day of school.  The time for these is 6:00-8:00 pm.

***Please do not register to take Driver's Education during the marching band season.  

 

Marching Band Registration Info Question

There is a question at the end of the registration that will help Mr. Ray get a better handle on the instrumentation for the marching band.  All students are required to participate in marching band.  Exemptions from marching band are allowed but need to be discussed with Mr. Ray.  On the form, please select the appropriate response for your student's marching band participation.

There will be two choices:

1. I plan on participating in the marching band.

2. I have a potential conflict and would like to discuss a possible exemption (ex: fall sports participant, jazz ensemble, etc.). 

Exemptions will be considered, but all may not be approved.  

If you select an exemption request, please enter it on the registration form.  Each request is an individual need, I will review the request and respond prior to June 1, 2026.
